Affiliate Marketing From The
Other Side?

By Vickie J. Scanlon

Affiliate Marketing from the other side? What do I mean? Those who offer affiliate programs to affiliates have both benefits and concerns.

When you have an affiliate program you have to honestly look who will be promoting your product.

What should you look at when someone want to join your program? Most all companies look for the following area of compliance and niche matching when considering affiliates:

  • Does the affiliate have content that would appeal to your market
  • Will they abide by your search marketing and copyright policies
  • Is their site aesthetically pleasing *Do they agree to not display pornographic or offensive content

These rules are important to the one with the affiliate program. It can protect your online reputation. That comes to my next subject -A strict no-spam, fraud policy.

No Spam Policy

If you are thinking about creating your own product and thus, are looking for affiliates, you should enforce a strict no-spam, fraud policy. Why? If your site becomes associated with spam or fraud – it will damage or destroy your reputation. This translates into no online business.

Positives of having your own product

The positives of having your own product and having affiliates to sell your product is:

1. It will grow web sales.
2. Increased traffic
3. Solidifies you as an expert

To conclude, there is a lot to consider when creating and maintaining an affiliate program. But what is just as important, is not forgetting about the affiliate and what they can bring to your business.
