If you're starting out, or you're low on cash (who isn't right) than putting your fingers to the keyboard and writing articles for your website can give you a cheap and yet effective way to advertise. And, this thing called "article writing" can have additional benefits. 

First things first, how can article writing help your advertising.

Advertising with articles, is a cheap alternative to using PPA. With PPA, your advertising begins and stops with the last dollar in your pocket. Though PPA is a good way to get targeted traffic quickly, if you're building a website on a shoestring, PPA can be costly.


With article writing, the only cost to you is your time and labor in writing an article and sending it to the article directories. If you know your subject matter, your article can take you 30 minutes to get your thoughts down, and maybe, another 30 to 40 minutes to rewrite, proofread and tweak your copy for the search engines.

And if you are planning on using article directories, to create backlinks, be aware that it can take you at least 10 to 15 minutes to cut, paste, and format your article within the different directories.

Is all this hard work, worth the "no cash" outlay for advertising with articles?

Article writing does give you other possible benefits. It can:

1. Give you and your site credibility. Credibility is important online. And it is your "word" and your actions on your website that will or will not build your credibility.
2. Give you an "expert" designation. If you are in a niche market, and "expert" status is where you want to be, though, it takes time to build. Why? Trust, takes time to build.
3. Increase your backlinks (link popularity) major benefit. If you market your articles correctly, you can build quality backlinks. And, if ezine writers like your articles, you may find them looking for new articles by you.


Okay, you've seen some of the benefits of writing articles, but you may be wondering if there is a downside? Yes, this is not a marketing technique for a lazy person. If you are planning on using article writing as a method of marketing for your website, you must write. I can almost hear the groans coming from many of my readers. I understand-but your effort will be rewarded.

Let me tell you a simple secret about marketing-it's a numbers game. The more targeted traffic that hits your site the greater the opportunity to creating revenue for your business. And if you have a well written article, you will see people clicking on your link-not for just a day, week, or month, but possibly years.
