Your Business and Power Backup
Systems
By Vickie J. Scanlon
Do you need the services of a power back-up system? If you've been hit with snow-storms,
and other frequent electrical outages that has caused long dark, cold or
hot days without electricity you may want to look at a Power Backup System.
What is a Power Backup System?
What is a power backup system? A power backup system is a standalone system that can help protect your computer, telephone, fax, modem and equipment
when bad weather or other unexpected conditions interrupt your electrical service.
We all know the deal when an electrical outage happens, right. If not, let me refresh your memory. You're sitting at your computer typing away, when the electricity pops off then back on. What happened to your computer? Your computer goes off, then
when the electricity comes back on, your computer reboots, without your saved
data or worse yet, your data has been corrupted.
You see what your electricity is doing or note doing in front of your eyes, but what is it
doing behind the scenes? Unbeknown to you, these electrical interruptions
will help to reduce the life of your computer.
If you are working online, you probably realize that a power backup system
is a very good investment for your money. In fact, it can be an important line of protection for your
computer and your office equipment?
What to Consider in a Computer Backup System?
When looking for a computer backup system, here are some issues to ask yourself:
1. Does it keep your equipment running for an extended length of time, to give you enough time to shut down your system. An hour + is a good measure of
time?
2. Does it adjust for both low and high voltages to safe levels- so you can
work during brown outs and over voltage situations?
3. Does it offer shutdown software so when you are away it automatically powers down your computer system
if the electricity is off for an extended amount of time?
4. Does the system fit your office needs?
Computer Backup System and Price
Prices vary from $100+ on up depending upon your needs and what you want to protect.
Is a backup system worth it? I think so. No. I know so.
